“Electrostatic powder coating” may sound like a breakthrough. But on a brake pad’s steel backing plate, electrostatic powder coating is still a layer of paint.
Electrostatic describes how it is applied—NOT a new form of corrosion protection. And just like other applied paint, when damage exposes the steel, rust will begin.
Galvanized zinc goes further. It provides both a protective barrier and sacrificial protection, meaning the zinc corrodes preferentially to help protect the steel—including at small scratches and exposed areas.
NRS Galvanized Brake Pads combine zinc-coated backing plates with mechanical friction attachment, addressing both corrosion protection and friction retention.
For installers and drivers, the message is simple: look beyond the coating’s name. Ask what protects the steel underneath.
Paint covers. Zinc protects.
