Why Galvanized Brake Pads Are Your New First Choice

When choosing anything vehicle related, the choices are overwhelming and daunting. You most certainly don’t want to choose incorrectly, and the consequences could result in damage to your vehicle, or worse, an accident on the road.

So when it comes to choosing new brake pads, research is key. Your brakes are the last thing on your car that you want to cut corners with. In case you didn’t realize, your brake pads are consumable. They wear down over time so for safety measures they must be replaced when needed. Your brake pads consist of a metal backing plate, covered with a layer of ‘friction material’. Depending on what kind of driving you do, or what kind of vehicle you own, there are various types of friction materials to choose for your brake pads.

The three most common options are:

Ceramic

These types of brake pads are expensive but you get what you pay for, and ceramic brake pads tend to work better for daily driving. They are also quieter and they withstand heat better.

Metallic

Metallic brake pads perform well and cost less than ceramic brake pads, but they bite harder and are definitely louder during driving.

Organic

Organic brake pads are on the less expensive end of the scale. Effective and quiet, but they tend to feel more spongy, and they will wear away more quickly and will need more frequent replacement.

Usually your brake pads are set on a steel backing plate, which seems to be protected by a layer of paint. Paint chips away, and the paint on your backing plate is no different, especially in harsh driving conditions. Rust will form due to environmental contaminants, and that rust will compromise the backing plate, exposing and weakening the adhesive used to hold the brake pad material in place.

So what should I choose?

Galvanized brake pads are the only choice that won’t corrode the way that painted backing plates do. A galvanized steel backing plate is the new industry standard. Galvanized steel is corrosion proof. The zinc used in the process forms its own coating over time, for even further protection. The friction material is attached mechanically, as opposed to with corrodible glue. They are created with hundreds of tiny hooks on the surface, which ‘bite’ into the friction material when it’s bonded to the backing plates, so it’s locked into place with ‘teeth’ instead of adhesive, and the possibility of separation is eliminated.

Why should I choose NRS galvanized brake pads?

• Patented NRS technology to ensure the friction material never delaminates from the backing plate.

• NRS brake pads are the world’s longest lasting brake pads, due to their galvanized steel construction, and premium friction materials.

• Corrosion resistant due to zinc plating technology.

• Environmentally friendly, paint free, copper free and 100% recyclable.

• Quieter ride due to less vibration and less noise.

• Long lasting with zinc plating. Technology that has been around for hundreds of years.

• Perfect for harsh weather. Galvanization can withstand harsh environments, and weather conditions.
